Special Olympics Texas is a privately funded nonprofit that provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for 32,240 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization provides continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Texas holds more than 250 sports competitions annually on area, regional and state levels. The athletes train intensely for eight weeks prior to each competition. For more information, call 1-800-876-JOIN or visit specialolympicstexas.org.
The Heroes Foundation is a proud sponsor of Special Olympics Texas. Through our Heroes Cares program we offer several camps each year designed to be fun and inspiring for all involved. Heroes partners with local athletes and celebrities, such as Jason Kidd and the Jason Kidd Foundation, to make the experience that much more engaging. The camps are by far the most rewarding part of the Heroes experience, enabling the joy that comes from giving back to our community.
